Interested artists and creatives throughout the region can take the survey online at www.ArtspaceNWAsurvey.org anytime between July 24and September 10.

The events are open to all; artists and directors of arts organizations and creative businesses are especially encouraged to attend. Those unable to attend an event are still encouraged to share their thoughts on the online survey.

Artspace, the nation’s leading developer for the arts, will use the survey to identify the types and number of spaces needed by Northwest Arkansas artists, the amenities and special features that are of interest to them. The results of the survey will help Artspace determine the size of the market in Northwest Arkansas for affordable live/work housing, studio and workspace of various kinds.

The survey is the second phase of a scope of work that began in January, 2018 when an Artspace team conducted a Preliminary Feasibility Study in each of the four cities. If the survey identifies a market for an Artspace project and the community decides to proceed, survey results will inform both the project concept and site selection. They will also impact specific design and programmatic decisions, such as square footage, parking spaces, types of shared creative spaces to include, rents, etc. Artists who take the survey will have the option of being among the first to be informed of project developments, including leasing opportunities.

The feasibility study and online survey are made possible through a one-year partnership with the Walton Family Foundation to explore the feasibility and market for artist space in Northwest Arkansas. The grant-funded research will provide a roadmap for creating and sustaining permanently affordable space to live, work, exhibit and perform for artists, creative businesses and others in the creative fields. The four focus cities are Bentonville, Fayetteville, Rogers and Springdale. Research outcomes will help identify opportunities for arts-driven economic development activities.
