ARTx3 Campus Hosts Free Exhibition Reception on August 13, from 5-7 p.m., at Arts & Science Center

The ARTx3 Campus will host a reception for “Revelations of My Youth,” an exhibition of expressive acrylic paintings by artist Alexia Lams, from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas in Pine Bluff. The reception is free and open to the public.

In “Revelations of My Youth,” Lams explores mortality, guidance, relationships and identity during the transitional period of young adulthood. Her paintings depict figures in fragmented, liminal spaces and amorphous forms inhabiting cosmic environments. Together, the works serve as visual diaries that record the physical and emotional experiences that shaped the artist’s youth.

“My understanding of mortality, guidance, relationships and even self are challenged,” Lams said in her artist statement. “These paintings act as visual diaries that allow me to record and reflect on my youth.”

Lams earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arkansas at Monticello in 2024. Her expressive acrylic paintings and drawing combine scenic painting, figurative portraiture and surrealistic imagery.

She has exhibited her work at galleries and museums including the Fort Smith Regional Art Museum in Fort Smith; the Indianapolis Art Center in Indianapolis, Indiana; and River Oaks Square Arts Center in Alexandria, Louisiana. Lams’ work was also featured in the Arkansas Arts Council’s “Small Works on Paper” exhibition, which traveled to nine locations across Arkansas in 2024 and 2025. In 2024, the Arkansas Art Educators Association named her Higher Education Student of the Year.

Simmons Bank sponsors “Revelations of My Youth.” The exhibition will be on view from Aug. 13 through Jan. 9, 2027, in the Ben J. Altheimer Gallery at The Arts & Science Center. Visitor hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
