Symphony of Northwest Arkansas Presents “Battle of the Bands”
A Collaboration with Fayetteville Jazz Collective; Also Featuring Guest Vocalist Genine Latrice Perez

Following a bold kickoff to 2023 with stellar crowds at concerts in January and March, the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas (SoNA) continues its 2022-23 MainStage season at Walton Arts Center with an exciting collaboration on Saturday, April 8.

Under the baton of Music Director Paul Haas, SoNA teams up with the Fayetteville Jazz Collective for Battle of the Bands at 7:30 p.m. on April 8, going head-to-head with the venerable jazz group to create a hybrid orchestra + jazz band that is greater than the sum of its parts. They’ll alternate between pieces played by the jazz band, pieces played by the orchestra, and then pieces played together, for an evening of genre-defying music that’s sure to be enjoyed by a wide variety of music lovers. Also featuring guest vocalist Genine LaTrice Perez.

“The Fayetteville Jazz Collective is a frequent and favorite collaborator with SoNA – we have worked with them twice before – both times were a hit and an audience favorite,” says SoNA Executive Director D. Riley Nicholson. “We often have the privilege of working with guest artists from around the world, but it’s particularly special when we get to celebrate local talent right here in Northwest Arkansas. And, while we use the term ‘Battle of the Bands,’ it’s less a battle and more of a fusion of incredible local musicians and a musical exploration beyond the boundaries of ‘jazz’ and ‘classical’ music.”

Later in the month, on April 29, the season wraps with Evoking Folklore, presenting captivating storytelling of folklore from cultures near and far, featuring pianist Angela Cheng.

Single ticket prices for SoNA’s main stage performances range from $36 to $60, based on seating preferences. Discount student tickets are available with a student photo I.D. Children under 18 are free with the purchase of an adult ticket (limited quantities).
