Vampire Weekend will play the Arkansas Music Pavilion (AMP) at the Washington County Fairgrounds on Wednesday, September 25. Gates open at 6pm and the concert starts at 7:30pm.

The New York-based indie rock quartet released their third LP earlier this year, entitled Modern Vampires of the City and is touring in support of their release. Singer Sky Ferreira will open for Vampire Weekend, despite her high-profile arrest just last week.

Vampire Weekend began in 2006 with the collaboration of four Columbia University students – Ezra Koenig (vocals, guitar), Rostam Batmanglij (keyboards, guitar, vocals), Chris Baio (bass) and Christopher Tomson (drums). Because of a fanatic following and critically acclaimed songs like “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa”  “Mansard Roof,” “Oxford Comma,” “A-Punk” and “The Kids Don’t Stand a Chance,” the band has become one of the most popular and successful alternative rock bands of their era. Vampire Weekend released their first major-label album Vampire Weekend in 2008. The album debuted at No. 17 on Billboard Hot 200, sold more than 450,000 copies over the span of one year in the U.S, and went on to be named the 5th best album of 2008 by Time and 56th Best Album of the Decade by Rolling Stone.

Special guest Sky Ferreira is an American singer-songwriter, model, and actress. Her first EP, As If!, was released in 2011 and her second EP, Ghost, was released in 2012 to positive reviews. Singles from Ghost include “Lost In My Bedroom” and “Sad Dream.”  “Everything Is Embarrassing,” from Ghost was named one of the best songs of 2012 by publications such asPitchfork Media, The Guardian, the Los Angeles Times, and Spin.
