Arkansans are invited to take a nostalgic journey through the state’s past at Home Movie Day 2025, happening Saturday, October 11, from 1:00–4:00 p.m. at UA Little Rock Downtown.

The event will feature a curated selection of archival home movies from the CALS Butler Center for Arkansas Studies and the UA Little Rock Center for Arkansas History and Culture. Spanning the 1910s through the 1990s, the footage highlights everyday life and extraordinary moments alike—from family outings at the Little Rock Zoo and outdoor adventures at Devil’s Den to state governors and even drag shows. Together, the films offer a vivid look at Arkansas’s cultural heritage and the experiences that have shaped its communities.

Guests can enjoy complimentary popcorn and drinks while watching, and even join in on the fun with a bingo card game for a chance to win prizes.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own home movies, too. Archivists will be on hand to help identify and inspect personal collections, with equipment available to view 8mm and 16mm film, Betacam tapes, VHS tapes, and MiniDV tapes. Visitors will also receive resources on how to care for and digitize their media at the CALS DIY Memory Lab.

Home Movie Day 2025 is more than just a screening—it’s an opportunity to preserve memories, share stories, and celebrate Arkansas’s history together.
