the hemmingways
of the northside
of chicago
remain
still ride their bikes
leaving in their wakes
destruction
weaker women
turning families of laundry
over
on yellow tables
under orange lights
on dark south sides
waiting, looking up
at any door opening.
as the hemmingways
make their way north
slipping through the
alleys behind cathedrals
and up north clark
