“Inside Out” Exhibition by Kellie Lehr opening at 211 South in November
211 South is pleased to present a new exhibition, Inside Out, which features a selection of new paintings and soft sculptures by Arkansas Artist and Curator Kellie Lehr. The exhibition will be free and open to the public from November 17, 2023 until February 16, 2024.
Lehr will be sharing recent geometric abstract paintings and soft sculptures that use the process of folding in their creation and presentation. Lehr says, “I start with an unstretched cotton canvas that I fold, ink, wash, and dry outside in the sun. The folding is slow and tactile and speaks to the everyday activity of living in the world. Insides become outsides, form changes, patterns are made and disrupted, and memories of change and transformation remain as color, line, and pattern.”
Kellie Lehr is a visual artist living in Bentonville, AR. Lehr recently received her MFA from Lesley University College of Art + Design in Cambridge, MA, and a BSBA from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, AR. Her work has been included in numerous exhibitions throughout the US, including Manifest Gallery in Cincinnati; The Painting Center in NYC; 21C Museum Hotel in Bentonville, AR; the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts in Little Rock; The Ft. Smith Regional Arts Museum; and the Lunder Arts Center in Cambridge, MA. Lehr’s work has been chosen for the 2023-25 Juried Registry of the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington D.C. by its Arkansas Committee. Lehr attended the Foundation House Artist Residency in Greenwich, CT in 2023. In addition, Lehr served as Curator for 211 South from 2018-2023.
