The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas kicks off 2021 with shows by two up-and-coming artists from Memphis. “New Territory: Paintings by Michelle Fair” and “Feeling Through: Examining Emotion in The Midst of Unrest” by Catherine Elizabeth Patton are on view at now at the Pine Bluff museum.

The paintings in “New Territory” conceptualize figures interacting with their environment autonomously, giving the subjects of the paintings a home, yet allows the subjects and spaces to disconnect, reflecting a new stage in Fair’s life.

Fair’s exhibition is sponsored by Relyance Bank, and is on display through Saturday, April 3, 2021. For more information on Fair and to view more of her artwork, visit her website: michellefair.com.

Catherine Elizabeth Patton is a self-taught concept and portrait artist based in Memphis who started her practice in 2016. “Feeling Through” is a self-reflection of the artist’s emotions and her attempt to examine and understand them during the events of COVID-19 and the Black Lives Matter movement.

Patton’s exhibition is sponsored by Simmons Bank and is on display through Saturday, April 10, 2021. For more information on Patton and to view more of her artwork, visit her website: catherineelizabethpatton.com.
