The Girl Power Rock Camp begins July 8 for a week of  music and fun, empowering girls while they learn about band collaboration.

This camp is for girls ages 10 to 18 years old and each band will collaborate to write an original song and pay tribute to historic women artists through learning their repertoire of songs.

Campers will be arranged into bands based on their instrument preference and skill level.

The camp runs July 8 through 12 at the Fayetteville Folk School from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The hours are divided up into big group activities, instrument lessons, songwriting and special guest visits.

The camp will end with a final performance Friday evening where the girls will come together to showcase their work.

Female performers involved in the hosting of the camp include Jules Taylor, Jori Costello, Shannon Wurst, Bernice Hembree and Milcah Hulen-Posnak.

Registration closes Friday and scholarships are still available for those in need.
