Drs. Holly Andersen and Megan Baureis were co-workers for several years at an ophthalmology/surgery clinic with a high volume of patients. They both had a vision of a different type of practice. In March of 2011, their vision came to light and Uptown Eyes was born!
Creating an eye clinic with a warm feeling once you walked into the door was a must. So many healthcare clinics have a ‘cold and medical’ feel to them. Why can’t there be a more pleasant approach to eyecare? There can be. Since there was no other eye clinic in NWA that provided this type of environment and eclectic collection of eyewear, Holly and Megan put their vision and dream in motion.
‘We optometrists are truly fortunate to be in a profession that can help people see, as well as help them feel good about their corrective lenses for their lifestyles. We know there are so many eye doctors and opticals to choose from and want to stand out from the norm, offering comprehensive eyecare with a warm and caring feeling and exceptional customer service. We don’t want to rush our patients out and stack our schedule so full that we can’t counsel and listen to our patients’ concerns and issues. Not everything is textbook…not every person is the same…so why should an eye care clinic and optical be the same as any other?’
EVERYONE should take care of their eyes with routine eye exams…afterall, we only have one set of eyes! There is no such thing as an ‘eye transplant’ that will allow you to see! But you can have false teeth and dentures and still eat! But, many take this wonderful little organ for granted. Our eyes are delicate and intricate. What would you do if you couldn’t see?
EVERYONE needs to wear some form of eye glasses-even people who have had corrective vision surgery. We need to make sure we are protecting our eyes from harmful UV and from flying debris at our jobs, enhancing our vision with polarized lenses to help us ‘catch the big fish’! Surgery to correct vision is not forever. Our eyes will age just as the rest of our bodies do. They are not independent of our birthdays! So, where should one go to get their glasses?
We know people have choices on where to shop, just like clothing stores. Glasses were designed to correct vision. Thankfully with some amazing designers, it has been a fashion statement as well. They are no longer just for prescriptions to see, they are making statements-from professionalism to trendy to a high fashion accessory. Uptown Eyes was started to help fill the gap in NWA in the optical world, by providing something different…something you can’t get anywhere else in NWA…something that has been missing. If you want to wear high quality glasses, and want to be unique, Uptown Eyes is your optical boutique!
