sUgAR, the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville Student Gallery, will host a group exhibition of work by students pursuing their Master’s of Fine Arts in the Department of Art. The gallery, located at 1 East Center on the downtown Fayetteville square, will open to the public on Thursday, December 3rd from 6-8pm for a reception and open studio walkthrough. The exhibition will be on display until December 30th with open gallery hours on Saturdays from 9am – 1pm.

This is an opportunity for the public to view the creative research conducted by MFA candidates pursuing a professional career in art. Combining conceptual ideas with technical proficiency, students will be exhibiting work that has developed over the course of the fall semester. Potential mediums include painting, sculpture, ceramics, video, photography, printmaking and mixed media.

Exhibiting students include Maryamsadat Amirvaghefi, Danny Baskin, Parker Boales, Owen Buffington, Ashley Byers, Nicholas Cox, Jon Cromer, Chris Drobnock, Erin Gardner, Lindsey Heiden, Alexis Kurtzman, Esther Nooner, Mike Pennekamp, Rich Peterson, Katrina Rattermann, Cassie Sanderson, Elena Volkova, and Lauren Whitmore.This will also mark the inaugural launch of sUgARvision, a new-media branch of the gallery. A compilation video of graduate and undergraduate digital media work will be on display throughout the night and will be broadcast at a later date on public access TV.
