Arkansas Cinema Society announces free summer events in Fayetteville
The Arkansas Cinema Society (ACS) is gearing up for a busy July in Northwest Arkansas with two screenings and a networking happy hour. All events are free and open to the public.
“Summer is movie season, and we’re thrilled to partner with the City of Fayetteville and the Fayetteville Public Library to bring some of our favorites to the big screen,” ACS director of outreach Kody Ford said. “We can’t wait to welcome more movie lovers this month. Everyone is invited to join the fun.”
Screenings include “The Land Before Time” July 12 at Bryce Davis Park at 8 p.m. and “Ghost World” July 14 at 2:30 p.m. at the Walker Room in the Fayetteville Public Library.
In “The Land Before Time,” an orphaned brontosaurus named Littlefoot embarks on a journey to find the legendary Great Valley—a lush oasis where dinosaurs can thrive and live in peace. Along the way, he befriends other young dinosaurs, faces obstacles, and learns valuable lessons about teamwork and survival.
Ghost World is adapted from the graphic novel by Daniel Clowes and stars Scarlett Johansson, Thora Birch and Steve Buscemi. The synopsis says: “Two eccentric best friends graduate high school and respond to a man’s romance-seeking newspaper ad as a gag, only to find their lives becoming increasingly complicated.”
The screenings are in partnership with The City of Fayetteville Parks Natural Resources and Cultural Affairs Department and the Fayetteville Public Library.
The happy hour will occur at Atlas Restaurant July 17 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. ACS brings their monthly Filmmaker Happy Hour to Atlas Restaurant in Fayetteville. Join filmmakers and film lovers for a networking and socializing opportunity at one of NWA’s finest culinary establishments.
